[27-05-2020] HNBC Press release: Establishement of an Expert Group on COVID-19

The National Bioethics Commission after considering the global progress of the pandemic and its management, and after the publication of the relevant Recommendation “The bioethical dimension of individual responsibility in response to COVID-19 (corona virus)”, unanimously decided at its plenary meeting on 22 April 2020, the establishment of a Group of Experts on the pandemic of corona virus (COVID-19),

in accordance with article 13 of its founding law. The Group of Experts will support the Commission as long as the danger remains. 

The members of the Group of Experts for the COVID-19 are (in alphabetical order): 

- Dr. Costas Athanasakis, Health Economist, University of West Attica, 

- Dr. Takis Vidalis, Scientific Associate of the National Bioethics Commission, 

- Dr. Charalambos Gogos, Professor of Pathology and Infectious Diseases,  Director of the Pathology Clinic of the University of Patras, 

- Mr. Nikos Dedes, General Secretary of the Panhellenic Patients’Union, 

- Dr. Ismini A. Kriari,  Rector of Panteion University, 

- Dr. Irini Kyriakaki,  Special Scientist at the Ombudsman, 

- Dr. Vasiliki Mollaki, Scientific Associate of the National Bioethics Commission, 

- Dr. Takis Panagiotopoulos, Professor Emeritus of the Hellenic National School of Public Health (NSPH), 

- Dr. Panagiota Touloumi, Professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens  (UoA), and 

- Dr. Stavroula Tsinorema, Professor of Contemporary and Modern Philosophy, Bioethics, University of Crete.
